The test taker at this level has a good control and understanding of basic structures and functions. They can generally understand and scan straightforward factual texts on familiar topics. They can follow familiar topics if the speaker is clear and avoids idiomatic usage. They can maintain a straightforward description or narrative using linking words and devices. They can write straightforward connected text on routine factual information/topics which are familiar and are of personal interest.

Earning Criteria

Completion of an English language proficiency test. The test assesses Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking in approximately 60 minutes with a focus on English used in academic and workplace contexts. The test is administered online under secure conditions with voice and identity verified throughout the test.
Standards
Based on research from more than 50 countries, The GSE extends the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) by pinpointing on a scale from 10 to 90 what has been mastered for the four skills of speaking, listening, reading and writing.
