The test taker at this level can follow chronological sequences in a formal structured text, distinguishing between fact and opinion and making simple inferences. They can follow speech on familiar topics and can distinguish between main ideas and supporting details in familiar, standard texts. They can communicate in familiar contexts with generally good control of most basic structures and functional language. They can write short simple essays on topics of interest giving their opinion.

Earning Criteria

Completion of an English language proficiency test. The test assesses Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking in approximately 60 minutes with a focus on English used in academic and workplace contexts. The test is administered online under secure conditions with voice and identity verified throughout the test.
Standards
Based on research from more than 50 countries, The GSE extends the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) by pinpointing on a scale from 10 to 90 what has been mastered for the four skills of speaking, listening, reading and writing.
