Earners of this badge have demonstrated competence as a Learning and Skills Assessor based on the occupational standard published by IFATE. This includes applied knowledge of the principles, types and methods of assessment, the purpose and process of the quality cycle, and approaches to sustainable assessment practice. Skills and behaviours demonstrated include producing a plan for assessment, making accurate assessment judgments against agreed standards and giving constructive feedback.

Successfully met the requirements of the Learning and Skills Assessor End-point Assessment delivered by Pearson as a registered EPAO. The End-point Assessment consists of an Observation with questioning and a Professional discussion underpinned by a portfolio of evidence.

Completed a minimum of 12 months of learning and development to meet the knowledge, skills and behaviours in the Learning and Skills Assessor occupational standard.

Standards
A Learning and Skills Assessor will plan, conduct assessment activities and record and report on assessment decisions to the learner and other relevant stakeholders. They will support the learner's progression through feedback of assessment decisions, setting of ongoing realistic learning goals and referral to other professionals if required.
