Earners of this badge have demonstrated competence as a Teaching Assistant based on the occupational standard published by IFATE. This includes applied knowledge of the specific needs of learners and using strategies to support all learners to achieve their learning goals. Skills and behaviours demonstrated include establishing positive relationships with learners and promoting positive behaviours, consistently applying the school’s behaviour policy.

Successfully met the requirements of the Teaching Assistant End-point Assessment delivered by Pearson as the registered EPAO. The End-point assessment consists of an Observation of Practice, and a Professional Discussion underpinned by a portfolio of evidence.

Completed a minimum of 18 months of learning and development to meet the knowledge, skills, and behaviours in the Teaching Assistant occupational standard.

Achieved the Level 3 Diploma in Teaching Assistant. Achieved Level 2 English and Maths Qualifications.
Standards
The broad purpose of the occupation is to support the class teacher to enhance learners’ progress and development either in groups or individually. Teaching Assistants ensure that learners understand their work, know their learning objectives, and display positive learning behaviours in order to make progress.
