Earners of this badge have demonstrated competence as a Learning and Skills Mentor based on the occupational standard published by IFATE. This includes applied knowledge of mentoring theory and models, questioning and listening techniques, evidence-based practice and safeguarding. Skills and behaviours demonstrated include resilience, adaptability, maintaining mentoring relationship, providing feedback, and working to ethical and legal standards within professional boundaries.

Earning Criteria

Successfully met the requirements of the Learning and Skills Mentor End-point Assessment delivered by Pearson as a registered EPAO. The End-point Assessment consists of an Observation with questioning and a Professional discussion underpinned by a portfolio of evidence.

Completed a minimum of 12 months of learning and development to meet the knowledge, skills and behaviours in the Learning and Skills Mentor occupational standard.

Standards
A Learning and Skills Mentor will support individuals and groups with their learning and development towards agreed goals. They will do this by working within ethical and legal frameworks to ensure a high standard of mentoring practice. They will work collaboratively with stakeholders to inclusively meet the individual needs of the mentee.
