Data Modeling for Artificial Intelligence
Issued by
Penn State College of Engineering
Artificial intelligence (AI) is driving both societal and engineering change. Machine learning, a subset of AI, uses statistical methods enabling machines to get “smarter” with experience. Knime is an open-source platform that processes large data sets and incorporates machine learning techniques to create and correct models from that data. Earners of this badge have hands on experience working in Knime and an understanding of future (and present) implications of machine learning.

Earning Criteria
-
Prior to the live workshop, earners work in KNIME and build an initial workflow for data modeling in the application.
-
Earners attend a live 2-hour workshop led by engineering professionals who work with data modeling and machine learning. During the workshop, they are exposed to technological changes that have made AI and machine learning possible as well as the societal and technological changes happening due to AI. They also work on more advanced algorithms using KNIME.
-
Earners demonstrate that when given a data set, they are able to filter the raw data, pick a suitable algorithm, and make adjustments to get good predictive capability.
