The course objective is to provide students with the entry-level knowledge and skills necessary to safely participate in scuba dives to a depth of 60 feet/18 meters, or shallower.

Earning Criteria

The methods of assessment include examinations, quizzes, performance rubrics/checklists, completion of the open water diver final exam, evaluation of skills during 5 confined water training dives and 4 open water training dives and more with a minimum passing score of 75%.

Instructional strategies include: audio visual materials, laboratory, discussion, computer-based training, practical exercises, lectures, classroom exercise.
