The course objective is to be an entry-level technical diving program that bridges the gap between recreational diving and full technical deep decompression diving. The course prepares divers to make limited decompression dives using equipment that is marginally more extensive than that used in mainstream recreational diving.

Earning Criteria

The methods of assessment include examinations, quizzes, performance rubrics/checklists, completion of the PADI Tec 40 Diver final exam, evaluation of skills during the three practical assessments and four open water training dives and more with a minimum passing score of 80%.

Instructional strategies include: audio visual materials, laboratory, discussion, computer-based training, practical exercises, lectures, classroom exercise.
