Data Storytelling as an Ethical Choice
Issued by
Purdue University Online
Students learn how to create data stories that use ethical research and protect basic human rights: autonomy, fairness, trust, beneficence, and non-malevolence. The best data is accurate, truthful, and transparent. Both you and your audience should be able to trace where data originates, what procedures were used for visualization, and how to properly contextualize the data's value. However, even transparent, valid data can contain ethical concerns regarding collection and distribution.
Additional DetailsEarning Criteria

-
Data Ethics: A principled approach to reasoning about ethical implications of data collection and release. Introduction to ethical reasoning processes related to data collection, analysis, and dissemination.
-
Data validity and quality: Where, when, and how to use publicly available data in addition to how to certify its validity and quality.
