Purdue’s Project Management Essentials is an 8-week instructor-led online certificate course that provides fundamental knowledge/skills. As a graduate, students learn and develop an understanding of the critical principles and processes associated with project management and can apply them in managing their projects. Content includes lecture videos, a workbook, 4 assignments, and 8 quizzes. It fulfills PMI’s 35 hours of project management education/training requirement for taking the PMP® exam.

Earning Criteria

Each learner should have an understanding of basic project management concepts and terms from the Project Management Institute's "PMBOK Guide."
Must be able to understand and use tools, techniques, and processes related to the following areas: project integration management, project scope and procurement, project time management, project cost and risk management, project stakeholder communications, human resource management, project quality management, and change control
Each learner should be able to use and understand inputs, tools, techniques, and outputs (ITTO) and processes required to manage projects. Online materials include 14 total modules.
The textbook used for this course is: A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK Guide) – Seventh Edition and The Standard for Project Management, Project Management Institute, Inc., 2021.
Purdue's Project Management Essentials is offered eight times/year. More information is at the URL below.
Learners will complete and submit all eight quizzes and all four assignments with a score of 160/200 or higher (80%).
