Bobcat Nature Academy

This badge is awarded pre-college learners who participate in a a one week immersive learning experience studying local diversity using the scientific method to develop their own scientific hypothesis, test their hypothesis and present their findings. Participants will leave the program with an enhanced understanding of environmental sustainability and be challenged to create ways to live more sustainably.

Earning Criteria

  • Complete a one week residential camp experience.
  • Participate in a series of program activities, such as conducting laboratory testing and analysis of water samples, visiting and exploring coastal marshlands, navigating local forest environments and examining pollen, pollinators, and plant reproduction, and attending classroom sessions supporting activities. Attend classroom lectures and debriefs before and after activities
  • Gain exposure to the sciences of geology, dendrology, freshwater ecosystems, tidal marshlands, and the impacts of composting and recycling.
