Understand their obligations to comply with relevant legislation and codes, work place procedures, application of environmentally sustainability work practices and animal welfare.

Skills and knowledge in preventative animal health treatments and implementation of health control programs.

Pro-actively monitor available pasture, determine livestock nutritional requirements, identify supplementary feeding needs and implement feed plans.

Plan, construct and maintain electric and conventional farm fencing, including tool maintenance, fence design and structure.

Undertake a workplace based project involving research and budget preparation, develop basic excel and presentation skills.

If completed as an elective, this is the industry standard for training in chemical use, storage and handling. It covers pest ID, Modes of Action, label interpretation, issues associated with chemical use, formulation types, weed and pest control application, animal health, transport and disposal, preparation and clean up, recording and other procedures.

If completed as an elective, graduates develop a strong understanding of Electronic Identification technologies, data collection capabilities and analysis techniques and how the various types of equipment and technology can be integrated into day-to-day agricultural operations.

If completed as an elective, students develop skills and knowledge specific to precision technology operations, such as drones, according to the Civil Aviation Safety Authority regulations and the responsibilities of operators and conditions of operation.

If completed as an elective, a strong understanding of the needs of newborn and young livestock is developed which includes facility preparation, feed and feed supplements, animal welfare standards and guidelines and identifying when veterinary intervention may be needed.

If completed as an elective, students are provided with a deep undertanding of the animal welfare requirements surrounding artificial insemination practices . This includes animal preparation and nutrition pre- through to post- AI.

If completed as an elective, the requirements for preparing shearing shed facilities and equipment prior to shearing and crutching operations are covered, along with board and table workflow, how to maintain wool flow during operations and minimise contamination.
