Earners of the Printer/Cutter Competency micro-credential have demonstrated the ability to properly operate theMakerspace’s BN-20A to successfully print and cut a design into different kinds of paper and vinyl. Earners of this badge can prepare Adobe Illustrator files for printing and use the VersaWorks application to adjust the print settings as needed. Earners can also troubleshoot basic print errors and clean the machine.

Earning Criteria

Attend the Printer/Cutter workshop.

Complete the hands-on assessment during which an Adobe Illustrator file is set up for print and cut, exported to VersaWorks to adjust print and cut settings, and then printed successfully.

Use the different stroke types from Adobe Illustrator’s Roland swatch library to make various cuts and perforations in the material.

Use the BN-20A utility program to clean the printer manually.

Demonstrate understanding of how and when to use different print and cut modes and be able to identify and stop errors during a print.

Complete the printer/cutter quiz with an 80% or higher score.
