The Service Trip Lead micro-credential recognizes the successful coordination and implementation of a week-long, small group, community service trip. Service Trip Leads are members of the Service Trip Committee team who act as liaisons to departmental agency partners; work with professional staff and agency partners to plan the itinerary for the service week, prepare the small group for the week-long experience, and facilitate the week of service and associated reflective practice.

Earning Criteria

Two consecutive semesters as part of the Service Trip Committee team.

Participate in formal Core Team leadership and skills training for 3-5 days in August.

Participate in weekly Service Trip Committee team planning and leadership development meetings throughout the academic year.

Attend the Departmental Poverty and Culture professional development workshops.

Plan and facilitate two preparation meetings with the service trip team before the week-long service trip.

Attend and lead the scheduled week-long service trip.

Participate in the Pre-Trip Reflection and Welcome Back Dinner.
