Earners of the Vinyl Cutter Competency micro-credential have successfully demonstrated the ability to properly operate theMakerspace’s Camm-1 to cut a design into different kinds of vinyl. Earners of this badge can prepare Roland CutStudio files for printing, cut the files correctly, complete the manual vinyl weeding process, and use the heat press safely to transfer HTV onto fabric.

Earning Criteria

Attend the Vinyl Cutter workshop.

Complete the hands-on assessment during which a Roland CutStudio file is set up for cutting. Then, cut two versions, one for sticker vinyl and one for heat transfer vinyl.

Demonstrate the ability to swap vinyl type and blades, adjust usable material width, adjust pen pressure, and reset the machine after an error.

Complete the printer/cutter quiz with an 80% or higher score.
