OSHA Outreach Trainer- Construction
Authorization as an OSHA Outreach Trainer for the Construction Industry reflects the earner’s ability to effectively apply adult learning principles and interactive training techniques as they teach OSHA 10 and 30-Hour Outreach courses for the construction industry. Earners are authorized through the Southeastern OSHA Training Institute Education Center.

Earning Criteria

To successfully complete the program, earners must document at least five (5) years of safety experience within the construction industry. Earners are required to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of OSHA’s Standards for the Construction Industry, and demonstrate their ability to develop and present safety training based on learned adult learning principles and techniques.

Earners must first successfully complete OSHA’s Standards for the Construction Industry Course (OSHA 510), which includes passing the course exam. Next, earners complete OSHA’s Construction Industry Trainer Course (OSHA 500), which also includes passing a written exam, as well as a practical evaluation of the earner's training skills.

Earners develop a sample training session, that is presented and evaluated to assess adult education training skills.
Standards
Authorized OSHA Outreach Trainers deliver 10 and 30-Hour Outreach courses to workers in construction. To become an authorized Outreach Trainer, interested individuals must meet industry safety experience requirements, and complete a training course in the applicable OSHA standards, as well as a trainer course.
