The Global Online Learning Exchange (GOLE) badge is issued to those who successfully complete the 2- to 3-week, online virtual exchange workshop. This course is the main vehicle for certifying St. John’s faculty to create an international virtual exchange with a professor from an institution outside the U.S.

Badge earners will be able to: Discuss the nature and benefits of international virtual exchange for faculty members and their students. Collaborate with an international peer to develop a course that embeds a virtual exchange in a pedagogically sound way.

Badge earners will be able to: Create learning objectives—tied to both activities and student projects/deliverables—that measure both cross-cultural learning and engagement with the course’s “usual” discipline-based outcomes.

Badge earners will be able to: Ensure that learning objectives build sequentially, through scaffolding, and that they encourage higher-level skills, using Bloom’s taxonomy to conceptualize appropriate outcomes.
