Suffolk University's Design Thinking: Applying Discovery and Innovation in Practice
Earners of Suffolk University's DT certificate will learn how organizations use principles of design thinking and biomimicry to create new ways of meeting the challenges of modern business. Through conceptual and practical concepts combined with experiential learning opportunities, earners build creative problem-solving skills that empower them to identify unique business prospects and provide highly valuable solutions to the issues faced by both customers and businesses.

Earners of this badge must complete all four (4) microlearning modules consisting of 7-10 hours each of learning activities involving readings, videos, journal reflections, story-telling, creating a journey map and empathy map, a review on good and bad design, an empathy interview, knowledge checks, and discussion boards.

Attend (or watch recording of) four (90-minute) bi-weekly group conversations guided by a master DT facilitator on the subject matter covered by each module: (1) What Is Design Thinking? (2) Observe, Understand, and Create Empathy (3) Reframe Concept Statement, Ideate, and Prototype (4) Implementation, Evaluation, and Wicked Problems.

The Design Challenge Project: The final project for the DT certificate is an immersive, course-long, team project that uses the design thinking ideas, methods, and processes to come up with a novel and viable solution to a challenge.
