Fundamentals of Television News Production

Earners of the Micro-Credential will have demonstrated the foundational skills of field-video and studio television production for news reporting, including pre-production, field and studio camera operation, sound recording, using switchers and prompters, and graphics and advanced non-linear editing. Earners gain a knowledge of live/live-to-tape studio production workflows and responsible journalism practices, and the ability to collaboratively produce news segments in the field and the studio.

Earning Criteria

Earners must complete AS 3247, Introduction to Video and TV, with a grade of B or better.

Earners must complete AS 4870, Advanced TV: Studio Production, with a grade of B or better.

In addition to the courses required for the Micro-Credential, earners will have taken AS2802, Multimedia Journalism to satisfy the prerequisite requirements of the required courses.
