Students in this course learn how to be successful pharmacy technicians by learning about effective communication strategies, laws, regulations and ethical concepts related to pharmacy practice, pharmacology terminology and abbreviations, inventory management, health insurance billing, dosage calculations, routes of administrations, drug classifications and examples, anatomy, physiology and common diseases for each body system, and the drugs in the current Top 200 Drug List.

Earning Criteria

Students must attend class and participate in discussions and labs.

Students must take and pass three quizzes and one final exam incorporating all topics covered during the course.

Students participate in a practical application to understand how to count medications, blister pack, and make an IV using aseptic technique.
