Vinyl Cutting - Design & Machine Operation

Vinyl Cutting is an introduction to design preparation, setup and machine operation, including vinyl cutter & heat press. Participants will be able to do the following by end of session: upload and export to image format for vinyl cutting, understand the procedures for preparing an image, understand the procedures for operating a vinyl cutter, software design, and the vinyl cutting machine, including preparing material, troubleshooting errors, and identifying best outcomes.

Earning Criteria

To earn a D.E.C. Makerspace badge, participants/users will need to: Attend a mandatory 30-45 minute instructional session on file preparation, software use, and machine operation. Complete at least one project involving file upload (e.g., converting an image to a usable format), weeding of material, heat press set up (if applicable), transfer material procedure. Complete at least one project involving vinyl cutting activities (e.g., heat transfer a design on fabric), vinyl stickers, etc.
