Aeronautics and the Principles of Flight

NASA’s Museum in a Box program brings the physical sciences of flight alive to students in grades K-12 using interactive activities. Each lesson is centered around aeronautics with a goal to inspire future scientist, mathematicians and engineers. The content inside Museum in a Box may be used by educators to supplement curriculum during the school day or as activities for after school programs/clubs. Estimated Time to Complete 4 hours.

(1) Learn about NASA’s Aeronautics Research Mission Directorate and its unique instructional resources. (2) Explore the History of Aviation utilizing NASA’s Aeronautics Research Mission Directorate (ARMD) Museum in a Box activities. (3) Explore the different parts of an airplane from the Museum in a Box activities. (4) Explore hands-on instructional activities for any grade level that utilizes NASA’s Museum in a Box program, learn about the four forces of flight and the three axes of flight.
