Bringing Global Climate Change (GCC) into Mathematics Classrooms

This badge is designed for pre-service and in-service mathematics teachers at all levels (K-12) who wish to (better) understand GCC and how they can use it as a meaningful context for students to learn mathematics. The badge earner will review NASA's resources on GCC and identify specific resources that he/she will use to teach mathematics in the context of GCC using culturally relevant strategies. (1) Become familiar with NASA’s work on GCC. (2) Become better informed about GCC through the use of NASA resources. (3) Become familiar with NASA’s math educational resources on GCC and identify resources relevant to your grade level. (4) Solidify understanding of teaching mathematics within the context of GCC using real-world examples from NASA missions by reflecting on implementation of NASA’s educational resources.
