Explore Moon to Mars: Landing Humans on the Moon

With the Artemis missions, NASA plans to land the first woman and the first person of color on the Moon to explore more of the lunar surface than ever before. Choosing where to land, one of the key decisions, is informed by findings from previous missions and science goals. The choice of the landing site in turn will determine the mission design. (1) Learn about lunar geology as it relates to choosing a landing site for Artemis Missions, explore two related activities that teaches students lunar geology while engaging in scientific research processes. (2) Explore an engaging activity that allows students to expand their knowledge of basic human needs and ecosystems. (3) Learn how to simulate a real-world NASA engineering design challenge of safely landing humans on the Moon while teaching them the constraints presented by the atmosphere.
