G-Force Mentor

This co-curricular micro-credential is awarded to students who complete all the G-Force Work-Study Mentorship Program requirements, sponsored by the THECB and the Center for First Generation Students. The yearlong program includes intensive training in higher education areas such as career, college access and completion, admissions and financial aid, and career readiness. Participants can hone their career readiness skills while serving as peer mentors to high school students and their peers.

Interested students must complete the G-Force Mentor Application, be work-study eligible, show financial need, and complete the interview process. For more information, please contact Simone Daniels at sdaniels2@twu.edu or the Center for First-Generation Students twufirstgen@twu.edu.

Students must maintain a GPA of at least 2.8 and be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours (for undergraduates) or half-time credit hours (for graduate students).

G-Force mentors visit 19 High School Go Centers as well as participate in Mobile GoCenter, community and on-campus events, guide students on enrolling in any college or university as well as how to apply for scholarships, financial aid FAFSA/TASFA applications, and assist with providing appropriate resources, assist in special outreach events, such as College Nights or FAFSA Nights, raise awareness about the value of higher education, motivate high school students to pursue higher education.

To receive the micro-credential, students must attend all mandatory yearlong training/workshops and meetings. The Center for First-Generation Students will verify the completion of the requirements.
