The Direct Service Worker builds a foundation to get started in an ECF setting. This role involves providing needed services to people with intellectual & developmental disabilities in a person-centered way in the state of Alabama. The earner will support the person to become employed and live as independently as possible using approaches focused on dignity, respect, and choices. The course is broken into 4 sections: before serving people and within 30 days, 60 days, and 90 days on the job.

Earning Criteria

Complete an Employment and Community First (ECF) workforce development training course customized to the state of Alabama. Topics include Introduction to the Community Waiver Program (CWP), Disability Rights Movement, Signs and Symptoms of Illness/Medication Side Effects, and Emergency Preparedness.

Demonstrate level 2 proficiency on performance-based assessment
