Professional nurses (i.e., BSN, MSN, or PhD) require knowledge and skills for future nurse educator roles and to meet continuing education needs. The Nursing Education (NE) Proficiency Badge demonstrates expertise in curriculum development, teaching and learning strategies, quality course development, evaluation and test interpretation, and the faculty role. The NE Badge is earned after successfully completing three required 3-credit NE courses from a prescribed list of courses.

Earning Criteria

Completed three, 3-credit nursing education courses earning a B or better in each of the following courses: 1) NUR 610-Assessment and Evaluation in Nursing Education, 2) NUR 611-Curriculum and Teaching in Nursing, and 3) NUR 678-Role in Teaching.

Developed enhanced ability to develop and revise nursing curricular for an undergraduate nursing program.m.

Mastered skills for developing syllabi for curriculum courses.

Mastered skills for developing a teaching plan and evaluating teaching-learning strategies.

Mastered skills for developing a test blueprint of a topic or module, and accurately interpreting testing scores.

Developed advanced ability to discuss the role of the academic nurse educator in teaching, scholarship, service, and collegiality.
