Integrative Health and Wellness Coaching
Earners have completed the core coaching curriculum required for the NBHWC certifying exam. They are considered experts in the behavioral change process and have a fundamental understanding of Motivational Interviewing, self-determination and other coaching theories. They understand ethical and legal considerations for coaches; have basic lifestyle medicine knowledge and demonstrated competency in coaching skills such as empathy, connection, rapport, curious inquiry, and active listening.

Earning Criteria

Earners of this badge have completed 88 hours of instruction that includes at least 3 individual mentor sessions with a nationally board certified coach. They have completed at least 80% of the required coursework and scored at least 80% on all quizzes and tests. They have passed a final written exam as well as a final practical skills assessment.
Standards
The National Board for Health & Wellness Coaching (NBHWC) has collaborated with the National Board of Medical Examiners (NBME) since 2016 to provide a robust board certification examination which has led to more than 8,400 National Board Certified Health & Wellness Coaches that hold the NBC-HWC credential.
