Diversity Awareness in the Workplace
Earners of the Diversity Awareness in the Workplace badge have demonstrated development of their skills and understanding of diversity, equity and inclusion frameworks relevant to the workplace. Earners developed skills to mitigate bias and microaggressions and strengthened their cross-cultural communication skills with added knowledge on best practices related to mitigating conflict in the workplace.

Earning Criteria

The learner has completed the Diversity Awareness in the Workplace course at UC Davis Continuing and Professional Education. Time commitment includes active participation in the 6 hours course (camera on is required, plus active participation in chat, breakout rooms, group discussions, and individual reflections). Learner must complete reading assignments prior to attendance and attend the entire 6 hour course to receive a digital badge.

Learner has actively participated in assigned activities, including: - Case studies and scenarios that increase awareness of the role we each play in fostering a respectful and inclusive work environment.- Evaluating state/federal laws that develop skills in responding to challenges related to cross-cultural situations in the workplace.- Workplace scenarios that apply DEI frameworks and theories to promote inclusions excellence.- Personal reflection addressing and mitigating biases.

Learner has completed a Diversity Awareness Assessment & DEI Organizational Assessment demonstrating proficiency in the appropriate methods and language for communicating about diversity, equity and inclusion. Through a mix of lecture, group discussions, interactive reflection exercises the learner has identified how to integrate and apply strategies of diversity, equity and inclusion into their workplace and how to navigate conflict related to diversity in the workplace.
