This seminar is specifically designed to improve students' understanding of cross-culture dimensions, implications, and skills. The seminar will focus on three main areas: (1) what is culture, (2) what is cultural competency and how can students move through the continuum, (3) self-reflection on students' own culture and experiences.

Earning Criteria

The learner has completed the IDI Inventory - The Intercultural Development Inventory (IDI) is a widely used and effective cross-culturally valid assessment for building cultural competence.

The learner has attended and been an active participant in: at least five workshop sessions. Sessions include topics on: Processing your IDI results, Cultural Dimensions, Cross-Cultural competency, Leading in a multicultural environment, Telling your international story, processing your learning; Complete two Elective Experiences (typically selected from a list of pre-approved experiences) and submit a 200-300 word reflective essay for each experience.

The learner has submitted a 300-500 self-refection paper. ). Assessment of the paper will be on the learner's: 1. Ability to show an understanding of personal strengths and weaknesses. 2. Ability to articulate a competency that was learned. 3. Ability to state how the learned competency will be implemented in the future.
