Earners of this badge can write basic scripts in Python that utilize variables, data structures, and functions to interact with the operating system and process text files. The badge holder has demonstrated the use of modules in Python to interact with the operating system and has used Jupyter Notebooks for Python programming. The badge holder applied these skills in the Introduction to Python Programming course - completing 20 hours of instruction and 40 hours of hands-on project work.

Earning Criteria

The learner has passed UC Davis Continuing and Professional Education "Introduction to Python Programming", an Academic Credit-bearing course, with a grade of “C” or better.
Learner completed assignment components of the course with grade of “C” or better. Assignments Included: - Using variable types, flow control, and functions - Interacting with the operating system via Python - Using Jupyter for Python development Assignments were graded by the course instructor.
The learner has completed a "writing simple scripts to process text" project with grade of “C” or better as assessed by the course instructor. In the project the learner applied knowledge of Python programming, worked in Jupyter Notebooks, wrote a script to process text, and tested and corrected the script until it worked to the assignment specification.
