U/S-Guided CVC Course Instructor
A central line-associated bloodstream infection (CLABSI) is a laboratory-confirmed bloodstream infection not related to an infection at another site that develops within 48 hours of central line placement. Most cases are preventable with proper aseptic techniques, surveillance, and management strategies. The occurrence of CLABSI influences a hospital’s patient safety rating. This course will train new instructors at UMMC.

Earning Criteria

Each instructor candidate will be evaluated by the Teleflex educator leading a given station using a checklist and personal observation.

Candidate must be able to explain the rationale for and demonstrate each step of the procedure. Candidate must be able to correct learner in an effective manner without blame. Candidate must be able to facilitate discussion to ensure active participation of learners.
