  • RESPONSIBLE CONDUCT OF RESEARCH (RCR) Learning Objectives: 1. Define and understand the definition and principles of RCR according to NIH guidelines for instruction and subject matter 2. Develop strategies for the practical application of RCR knowledge to prevent research misconduct. Course Components CITI: RCR, HSR, GCP, IACUC (as applicable) and Responsible Conduct of Research Core Competency Series (6 workshops)
  • BASIC CLINICAL AND TRANSLATIONAL RESEARCH: Objectives 1. Understand the scope and value of clinical and translational research 2. Understand the basic application of clinical and translational research. Course Components (one required) The University of Rochester Intro to Translational Science Coursera Course OR Harvard Catalyst Fundamentals of Clinical and Translational Science (FaCToR)
  • SCIENTIFIC COMMUNICATION: Learning Objectives: 1. Understand the purpose and principles of effective scientific communication 2. Define the target audience and tailor a message to specific groups 3. Develop skills in grant writing and scientific writing 4. Develop skills in scientific presentation. Course Components: Grant Writing Workshops, Work-In-Progress Series, Community of Scholars Seminars, Distinguished Speaker Seminars, and Scientific Communication Core Competency Series (5 workshops).
  • PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT Learning Objectives: 1. Develop skills and knowledge relating to career advancement in clinical and translational science including Leadership, Mentoring, Teaching, Promotion and Tenure, and Team Science. Course Components: Professional Development Workshop Series, Mentor-Protégé Mentoring Workshops, and at least 4 Core Competencies (RCR, Scientific Communication, BERD Bootcamp and one elective)
