Intercultural Competency

Issued by University of Central Oklahoma

Earners of the Intercultural Competency badge have completed a qualifying UCO course (see link below for more information). This course utilizes the AFS Global and Cultural Competency Certification program and the Intercultural Development Inventory to help students grow in their intercultural competency. Throughout the course, students completed a series of modules and an intercultural development plan further developing their ability to engage in a multicultural society.

Earning Criteria

Successfully complete the Intercultural Development Inventory Assessment and Intercultural Development Plan
Successfully complete all of the modules of the AFS Global Competency Certification program
Attend at minimum 75% of all facilitated sessions scheduled by the instructor
Successfully complete all UCO course assignments
Explain the basic tenets of culture and intercultural competency
Apply the cross cultural concepts to their own lives and experiences
Evaluate how cultural competency can shape one’s position in society
Analyze their ability to interact with cultural experiences outside of one’s own culture
