  • Know the role of a correctional officer in identifying a person in crisis (PIC).
  • Understand the unique challenges that the prison system presents for individuals with mental health disorders.
  • Recognize atypical behavior within a correctional environment and assess risk.
  • Identify common mental disorders and their relationship to crime and criminal justice.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of Crisis Intervention Team training.
  • Develop positive methods to cope with the potential mental health challenges facing the correctional officer.
  • Complete the Mental Health in Criminal Justice course (D2L).
  • Complete all quizzes.
