Climate Justice Leadership Ally

The Environmental Center's Climate Justice Leadership Alliance (CJLA) empowers students with knowledge and skills to advance both sustainability and social justice efforts by understanding their interdependence. This micro-credential equips students with extensive knowledge and exposure to climate justice issues which includes the historical knowledge of social and environmental justice movements, systems thinking and systems change, as well as community organizing for climate justice.

Earning Criteria

Attend monthly gatherings, half-day leadership trainings each semester, and at least one event centering climate justice oustide of the CJLA.

Allies submit reflections on training workshops and a final program reflection that demonstrate self-reflection, self-growth, and continuation of impact on their lives.

Allies are assessed on their ability to provide examples of historical injustices within social and/or environmental justice movements, knowledge of strategies to initiate systems change, ability to describe systems thinking, and understanding of community organizing methods for climate justice.
Standards
This micro-credential aligns with Climate Justice Alliance's Just Transition Principles of Meaningful work, Equitable Redistribution of Resources and Power, and Culture and Tradition.
We address various manifestations of inequality with regard to climate change. Through educational events, students will understand climate justice and how different communities are impacted by environmental issues.
We support our community to become more sustainable and just through community organizing mechanisms to implement change such as policy and service projects.
