Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR)

Badge earners have experienced a variety of evidence-based mindfulness-based stress reduction methods in a highly supportive learning environment. They explored research supporting the benefits of mindfulness meditation and learned how to: a) develop and sustain a personal mindfulness meditation practice; b) manage and mitigate stress; and c) enhance resilience through the application of mindfulness in everyday activities, including mindful eating, communication, and perspective taking.

Complete the final course evaluation.

The 8-week MBSR program provides comprehensive training in developing and sustaining a mindfulness meditation practice. It is NOT a teacher training program and completing the course DOES NOT qualify the participant for teaching MBSR or any other mindfulness programming. Completion of the 8-week MBSR program is, however, a prerequisite for beginning a standardized MBSR teacher training program or certification process.

The 8-week MBSR program is 28.5 clock hours. Please contact your licensing board or accrediting body to determine if this program meets eligibility to receive continuing education units. A certificate of attendance will be awarded at the end of the program upon request. Please contact the Bakken Center's community relations office (mindprg@umn.edu) for more information.
