AHEC Scholar 2 Year Program

AHEC Scholars is a nationally recognized certification program for health profession students interested in supplementing their education by gaining additional knowledge and experience in rural and underserved settings. This program complements existing coursework to emphasize a team-based approach with interdisciplinary curricula implementing a defined set of clinical, didactic, and community-based activities for healthcare. $500 per-year stipend is awarded upon completion ($1000 total).

Earning Criteria

Students should have an interest in serving rural and/or underserved healthcare areas, be currently enrolled in a health professions degree or certificate program in North Dakota, and be 2 years from graduation or degree completion

40 hours PER YEAR of community-based, experiential, or clinical training in rural and/or underserved areas.

40 hours PER YEAR of didactic interprofessional coursework focused on the 8 core topic areas (Continuing education modules or college credits not required for currently enrolled program are accepted).
