The Teaching Transformation and Development Academy in collaboration with Academic Affairs at the University of North Dakota offered the faculty development opportunity, "Creating an Equitable, Inclusive Classroom" in the Fall and Summer of 2021. This intensive, four-day faculty institute in the summer featured two national DEI experts who facilitated faculty workshops on creating inclusive and/or anti-racist classroom artifacts. In the fall semester, faculty submitted course revision projects.

The badge earner was chosen through a competitive application process that examined the applicant's teaching philosophy and commitment to DEI initiatives in the classroom. The badge earner was one of forty individuals reviewed and selected by the Teaching Transformation and Development Academy at the University of North Dakota.

The badge earner completed two days of intensive lecture on DEI in the classroom presented by two external DEI expert consultants.

The badge earner participated in two days of active workshopping of classroom materials and engaging in other activities to increase cultural competence in the classroom.

The badge earner revised a semester-long classroom artifact from the categories of syllabus, activity, and assessment to include inclusive strategies and/or anti-racist pedagogies. The badge earner piloted the revision in the Fall 2021 semester and reported findings to the Teaching Transformation and Development Academy at the University of North Dakota.
