The Open Educational Resources (OERs) Working Group requests and reviews proposals for grants to help instructors create or adapt OERs for courses. Any instructor who is teaching a course at UND may apply for an OER grant. Student Government, the Office of the Provost, NDUS, the state, UND, external grants, and donors have provided funding for instructors to create and use free, online, digital access to scholarly works that they can read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or share.

  • The badge earner submitted an application to receive an OER grant.
  • The badge earner received a letter from their Department Chair, or alternatively, their Dean if their Chair was unavailable to ensure that their Chair is aware of and supportive of this project.
  • The badge earner was awarded one of the competitive OER grants.
  • The badge earner attended the OER Workshop Series presented by members of the OER Working Group, UND Libraries, and the Teaching Transformation and Development Academy.
  • The badge earner learned principles of Course Redesign, Finding OERs, Instructional Technology, Creative Commons Licensing, Copyright, and many other aspects of locating and adapting and implementing OERs for their courses.
  • The badge earner integrated and implemented OERs into their UND course.
  • The badge earner provided a copy of their final OER for deposit in the UND Scholarly Commons.
