Learners must complete this 45-hour course, and obtain an 80% or higher on the final assessment in order to receive this badge.

Understand and state what the role of the CDM, CFPP is in healthcare documentation.
Define medical and clinical documentation and state the differences between the two.
Define and then compare/contrast these terms: ethics, morals, and law.
Compare and contrast the terms privacy and confidentiality.
Describe how the Code of Ethics, professional practice standards, real/potential conflicts of interest, and patient rights intersect and are pivotal to the work of the CDM, CFPP in patient care.
Understand and state how governmental agencies and non-governmental agencies determine and provide regulatory oversight for healthcare organizations.
List the main governmental agencies and non-governmental agencies that provide regulatory oversite (WHO, HHS, OSHA, CDC, FDA {including the Food Code} and CMS) in healthcare and nutrition services as it pertains to nutrition care.
State the purpose and need for documentation as it relates to patient-centered care.
State and understanding the pivotal role of documentation in portraying quality of care, the legal and professional responsibilities, and how inaccuracies may discredit the care of the provider.
Discuss the way that patient data is stored in the electronic medical record (EMR).
Discuss the role of the CDM, CFPP in documentation, and how the ANFP supports the documentation with confidentiality practices, professional practice standards, continuing education, professional competencies, and the scope of practice.
Utilize the general principles needed to effectively communicate in the EMR.
Utilize and practice screening, assisting the RD in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluation techniques to provide good flow in your documentation of patient care, as defined by the Scope of Practice for the CDM, CFPP.

Understand and utilize the interdisciplinary plan of care to drive quality and personalized care, which advances each discipline high standards of caregiving.
Discuss the documentation process (policies and procedures) for patient care from the moment of admission using common charting templates.
Understand the importance of clinical documentation as evidence of patient care. Failure to document care means that there was a failure to provide care.
Describe the fact that the EMR contains the same components as a traditional or paper-based health record, and how it effectively and efficiently guides the whole healthcare team in providing a client’s care.
