Teaching, Learning, and Scholarship (TLAS) is a unit within Education Resources at the SMHS. The Educator-Scholar badge series is designed to celebrate earners' commitments to career growth in the areas of teaching, instructional design, and educational scholarship. To earn these badges, you must prioritize your development as an educator and academic scholar by spending significant time and effort on faculty development activities as described below. Earning Criteria

Complete TWO items from A-C: (A) Attend 5 or more TLAS faculty development workshops or sessions. (B) Lead an academic-focused book study (C) Design and deliver an interactive TLAS faculty development workshop for the SMHS community.

Choose the Teaching Track and complete the following: (A) Create learning asset using the Media Recording Studio. (B) Design, implement, and analyze results from a custom project with one or more faculty members from different departments or schools. (C) Work with a TLAS instructional designer to develop and present or co-present a TLAS faculty development workshop series (3 or more individual sessions). (D) Present results of one teaching innovation project at a conference.

OR, choose the Research Track and complete the following: (E) Research consult with TLAS personnel. (F) Research consult with embedded Library Resources librarian. (G) Generate literature review. (H) Implement research. (I) Collect data. (J) Consult with statistician. (K) Publish academic scholarship in an education-focused journal (in your field or in a field of education).

Earn distinction by completing all items in both tracks (teaching and research) above!

Requirements listed are not cumulative across badge levels! Activities should be unique to each badge earned. For example, the 5 workshops attended to meet the requirement of the Level 1 or Level 2 badge cannot be used as evidence in support of the Level 3 badge.
