They can demonstrate competency in the various practices of a user research project and understand how each practice informs the larger design solution. Completed course curriculum covering the fundamentals of user-experience research, sourcing participants, designing user surveys, analyzing survey results, task-based testing, and reporting findings to stakeholders.

Completion of user research design labs, exercises, challenges, and practice with real-world participants in a user research setting. Students apply empathy and their contextual understanding of a process, product, or service to design research questions and tasks such that gaps in users’ needs or understanding are identified and communicated.

Completion of journey mapping, user story generation, and flow diagramming challenges require the student to document the specific interactions a user will experience and arrange those experiences within the context of the user's needs as determined by interviews and activities.
