Unit 1 provides entry-level DIS with the foundational knowledge, core competencies, and essential services of disease intervention. Participants will be introduced to client counseling, specific diseases, epidemiology, public health, field safety, and venipuncture specimen collection.

Earning Criteria

Earners of this badge must complete the USF College of Public Health Disease Intervention Specialist Unit 1 Micro-Certificate online. They are required to complete all modules, including a pre-test and post-test for each module. Additionally, they must attend the DIScover in-person training sessions.

Complete knowledge checks after each module to ensure comprehension of critical lesson material. An 80% or above on the post-course assessment.

This program is accredited by the National Board of Public Health Education (NBPHE) for up to 15 CPH recertification Credits. Those who have a CPH License may apply for the credits at NBPHE.
