Earners have engaged in leadership learning and engagement through this VCU REAL Level-4 experience. They have demonstrated an understanding of leadership theory through diverse frameworks, increased leadership efficacy, an understanding of cultural agility, and an increased sense of belonging at VCU. They can integrate their knowledge of leadership theory within real-world settings, including through project-based learning.

Earning Criteria

Successfully complete VCU courses REAL 301 Principles of Leadership (3 credits-fall semester) and REAL 491 Special Topics in Leadership and Experiential Learning (1 credit-spring semester).

Students will complete a reflective project as part of REAL 491 that connects their learning and experience in the Emerging Leaders Program to their future academic, career, and personal aspirations.

Partner with a second-year mentor throughout the 2 semesters of the program and complete at least 20 hours of leadership and community engagement.
