Earners of this badge have the skills needed to safely operate basic hand and power tools and bench mounted power equipment. They can utilize equipment including a floor mounted drill press, horizontal and vertical industrial bandsaws, tap and dies, and belt sanders, and they can set up and operate a manual mill and lathe. They are proficient in safety procedures and are able to serve as a leader to their peers by providing appropriate guidance and education in their shared makerspace.

Earning Criteria

Complete the Makerspace Orientation and General Safety Training, Module I-Intermediate Makerspace Training, Module II-Basic Fabrication Techniques and Equipment, and Module III-Manual Mill and Lathe Operation modules.

Achieve a minimum score of 100% in Module I, 76% in Module II and 76% in Module III.

Complete assigned projects for each module.
