Principles of School-Based Play Therapy

Earners of this designation have learned the building blocks of play therapy and how to apply play therapy skills within the school context, as well as looking at how to use developmental stages to contextualize common play behaviors and apply this information within multi-disciplinary school-based processes. Earning Criteria

Possess an active, unconditional state mental health license or currently employed (and/or pursuing education) in a behavioral health or school counseling field.
Complete the 16 contact hour workshop of play therapy training through VCU Continuing and Professional Education (APT Approved Provider 15-397).
Pass a two-part assessment including a multiple-choice test and scored rubric demonstrating mastery of workshop objectives via small and large group activities and discussion.
