Earners successfully completed the full study abroad cycle, including participation in pre-departure orientation, studying abroad, and engaging in returnee orientation. They observed and related to diverse cultures which increases global self-awareness, develops personal and social responsibility, and enhances their capacity for empathy. Earners can articulate, critically reflect on, and integrate global knowledge, concepts, and experiences into their academic, personal and professional lives.

Earning Criteria

Attend the GEO hosted Pre-Departure Orientation to prepare for a safe and successful study abroad experience. Engage in the VCU Global Education Office Returnee Orientation (in person or virtually) to critically reflect on their international experience. Assessment quizzes are required if students cannot attend pre-departure and/or returnee orientations.
Participate in a VCU Global Education Office approved education abroad experience such as a study abroad program, internship abroad, research experience abroad, or service experience abroad.
