Earners are well versed in working with children with neurodevelopmental disabilities and special health care needs, as well as their families and professionals involved in their care. Earners are VCU students who completed academic coursework, the Family Mentorship Experience, clinical observations, a leadership project, and have participated in disability policy activities. They have clinical or work experience with or on behalf of children with developmental disabilities.

Earning Criteria

Complete application process.
Successfully complete 12 credit hours of graduate level training: IDDS 604 LEND Seminar I (4 cr), IDDS 605 LEND Seminar II (4 cr), and IDDS 672 Leadership and Practicum (4 cr). This includes the Family Mentorship Experience, clinical observations, and participation in the Va-LEND Interdisciplinary Clinics, policy practica, and a leadership project.
Complete 300 hours of clinical or work experience involving Childhood Neurodevelopmental Disabilities obtained as part of the trainee’s primary degree program or employment may account for up to 45 of the required 300 hours.
