The course objective is to build upon the foundation of crash investigation knowledge gained in prerequisite courses to provide a further understanding of crash investigation and reconstruction techniques. Topics such as kinetic energy, impulse, and Delta V are expanded upon and the topics of conservation of momentum, time/distance, and airborne calculations are studied in more depth than in previous courses. In addition, the student will be introduced to pedestrian crash investigation.

Earning Criteria

The methods of assessment include quizzes, examinations, performance-based testing, and practical exercises with a minimum passing score of 75 percent.

The methods of instruction include audiovisual materials, case studies, classroom exercises, discussion, lecture, and practical exercises. The general course topics include review of basic of crash investigation; general airborne equations; pedestrian crash investigation conservation of momentum both vector and algebraic solutions; time and distance equations and analysis.
